The Church of Liberty - Unshackled from The World

ball and chain copy

Look. It's just really simple.

If YOU made it through the Narrow Gate and I made it through the Narrow Gate - then we're just ONE because Jesus said so. Period.

If we're going to be stuck together for eternity ... maybe we could learn to get along together NOW.

Maybe we could lay down our arguing and division and just focus on the stuff we all agree on - like "I was hungry and you fed me, I was naked and you clothed me."  Like the Great Commission. Like Christ and Him crucified.

EITHER ... stop praying the Lord's Prayer ("Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.") or stop splitting up into teams and fighting.

You're not a Christian because you go to church anymore than you're a car if you work in a garage. You're a Christian because JESUS voted on you and let you in.

You have brothers and sisters that you would love and might be your best friend and could pray with you and cry with you and be there by your bedside when you're dying holding your hand - and they're all over town and you've NEVER met them.  And you may never if we don't start looking outside our Sunday morning boxes.

In Revelation 2-3, Jesus writes through the Apostle John to seven churches of Asia Minor. Jesus doesn't address the bishop or the pastor or factions within a city - He writes to ALL the believers in that place - Church of Ephesus, Church of Smyrna, Church of Philadelphia.  He's not writing a letter to the building, "I know you have a pointy thing on top..." "Remember the bricks you were build with at first..."  No. It's all those who are "called out" in that place.  That's the "Ekklesia." No steeple, just people.

So as long as there have been Christians in Liberty, Missouri, there has BEEN a Church of Liberty. We're not starting one. We're not planting one. We're just acknowledging that there IS one - and we need to act like it.

After all, the guy we call our Lord, Master, Messiah, Savior that took us off the trash pile that was headed for the incinerator, dusted us off, repurposed us and promised us eternal life is the one that sweat blood and prayed just before the Cross that we would be ONE as He and the Father are one because THEN the world would know that He was who He said He was. Are we praying in agreement with Him? Why not?

We're not calling people to leave their boxes. Hang out with people you like. Sing the songs you know.

We're just trying to create some ways for us to work together, to manifest our oneness to the world, to make a difference to a lost and dying world and not just feed overfed sheep.
